The Challenge: From Media Network to Mobile-First Product
SportsGrid had already established itself as a premier 24/7 sports betting streaming network. To deepen their relationship with their users and expand their digital footprint, they needed to create a dedicated mobile app. The challenge was translating the spirit of a live media network into the ultimate betting companion, starting from a completely blank page.
Projects like this sit at the intersection of sports media UX design and sportsbook UX design, where broadcast storytelling meets data-driven interactivity.
My Role: Lead Product Designer
I partnered with the SportsGrid team from the very beginning to lead the design of their V1 app. My role was to architect the entire user experience from scratch. This involved extensive strategy, user flow definition, and the design of every core feature, creating the foundational framework for the product that is live on the App Store today.
The engagement followed my sports tech product design consulting framework, combining user-centred design with rapid iteration to move from concept to live product efficiently.
The Solution: A Unified Hub for Content and Betting
The final design was a feature-rich platform that delivered on the promise of being the ultimate betting companion. I focused on several key pillars to create a cohesive and valuable experience.
1. Onboarding & a Personalised Content Feed
Personalisation was a staple from day one. I designed an intuitive onboarding flow allowing users to select their favourite leagues and teams. This directly powered a bespoke “My Feed,” ensuring the most relevant content, news, and betting opportunities were always front and centre.
2. The Live Media Center
To honour SportsGrid’s identity, I designed a dedicated section for their live and on-demand content. This included a whole section to watch the live broadcast, listen to SportsGrid radio, and catch up on short-form content with “SportsGrid Shorts.”
3. Insightful Game Coverage & Data
A modern sports app needs world-class game coverage. I designed a multi-faceted experience for game day, including deep pre-game previews with betting insights, a dynamic in-game view with live odds, and a “Picks & Insights” section for data-driven picks.
4. The Killer Feature: Real-Time Bet Tracking
Perhaps the most powerful feature was the real-time bet tracking. I designed a game-changing experience that allows users to connect their various sportsbook accounts and sync their bets into one place, then track them all in real-time with live data feeds.

The Impact: From a Blank Page to a Market-Ready Product
This was a foundational, zero-to-one project. My work translated the ambitious vision of the SportsGrid team into a tangible, buildable, and user-centric product.
Provided a Clear Framework for the V1 Launch: The end-to-end designs provided a comprehensive guide for the engineering team. This clarity de-risked the entire technical build and accelerated the development timeline compared to starting without a complete design foundation.
Created a New Digital Home for a Media Brand: The final app successfully expanded SportsGrid’s presence from broadcast to a dedicated mobile platform, creating a new and powerful owned channel to engage with their audience.
Established a Foundation for the Future: The modular design system and scalable architecture I created for the V1 have allowed the internal team to continue to build and innovate on the product that is live in the App Store today.
